Mr East first started his karate studies under Dunlop Paul Sensei in Johannesburg in 1973, training also with Kimura sensei, then in the UK with Prof R Mills sensei, Tsukada sensei and Kenji Kusano sensei. As well as Shitoryu karate, Mr East heads a Shinkendo study group and in addition to regular Shinkendo and Battojutsu training in Somerset, Shinkendo ka will have the opportunity to train with the founder Mr Toshishiro Obata, in Europe or the UK in the future.
